Welcome to The honors program!

I designed the training I would love to take. Based on the many trainings I have taken, I brought together all the parts I really enjoyed to create The Honors Program. I have been teaching this program for over 10 years and continue to be inspired by the students who show up.

After my last online training back in 2020, I redesigned it to have both an in-person and a virtual component. Nothing compares to being in person, especially for sequencing, hands-on assists, and deepening our personal sadhana. We will meet for two weeks in April and then meet online for the next eight months for 20 hours each month.

This vigorous program will

refine the tools you have

widen the scope of what you know

give you the confidence to share what is authentic for you from a place of deep understanding

IN PERSON: Refine Your Teaching

Dates: April 12-26, 2025

Location: Eagle’s Nest Sanctuary, Vancouver Island, BC

Curriculum includes:

Wave Theory Sequencing ~ Create holistic vinyasa classes based not only on peak poses but also how to create Bhavana (mood) classes for all levels based on Shiva Rea’s Prana Flow Wave theory. Each participant will teach two classes to their peers during the program and will have the opportunity to receive feedback from their peers and Clara.

Krama by Krama ~ We will explore the different kramas/stages of peak poses, from the most fundamental variation to the most advanced. We will cover inversions, backbends, binds, and arm balances, along with any poses requested by participants.

The ‘Open Level’ Class ~ Learn to create an open-level class from start to finish, including theme, language, and closing.

Standing in One’s Own ~ Create a safe environment for your students and yourself. You will be given tools to create clear boundaries, deal with “problem” students, and learn how to ‘hold your own’ among the politics of yoga communities.

Hands-On Adjustments & Assists ~ Hands-on can help students understand the alignment of how to pose for their bodies. Learn to discern what is needed for them to gain awareness and proper alignment in each shape. We will go over the standing series as well as advanced poses.

Ayurveda ~ The sister science of Yoga. What is it, and why is it useful to the Yogi? We will go over the doshas, how they are affected by the seasons, the daily rituals (dinacharya), abhyanga (self-massage), and what to eat/avoid depending upon our own constitution and the time of year.

Virtual: Elevate Your Knowledge

May 2025 - January 2026

Location: Zoom

Curriculum includes:

Feeding Ourselves on and off the Mat ~ How to stay inspired as a teacher can be hard. We will go over different ways to stay creative, engaged and fulfilled as teachers and practitioners.

Teaching to the Pregnant Goddess ~ You will learn modifications and alternatives for pregnant women for all three trimesters.

Art Of Mantra and Meditation ~ We will cover different mantras, their meanings, how to pronounce them properly and how to lead our students through them. We will also have a daily meditation practice, learning different techniques and how to guide our students through them.

Sacred Scripture ~ You will be given a booklist upon registration. We will review 1-2 texts each day. Included in this list are the Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, Myth of Freedom, Tantra, Chakras, Hatha Yoga Pradipika and a few others. We will dissect their meanings, discuss our experience of the readings and go over how to apply them to the public class setting.

Pranayama ~ We will study different pranayama techniques, their effects, how to teach them and why they are beneficial. Everyone will practice teaching the group and receive feedback.

The Subtle Body ~ We review what it is, how to connect to it and how to make it accessible to our students. Included in this will be Pranayama, Boa Form (from a martial art I used to study called Chien Lung), visualization and mantras of the chakras and meditation.

Curriculum by guest teacher, Erin Moon

Applicable Anatomy ~ In keeping with the theme of a sustained practice, guest teacher Erin Moon, ERYT 500 & C-IAYT 800, will share the biomechanics that come into play in different postures and how that manifests so differently in the incredible biodiversity that appears in every person and therefore class we teach. She will help us to explore how we can make fundamental changes in the body, exploring the bio-psycho-social approach. We will learn about the anatomy of the breath, the anatomy of the nervous system, tissue biology, and exercise science.

Restorative Yoga ~ An introduction to this powerful practice and how to incorporate it into the cooling/lunar segment of a vinyasa class.

About Our Guest Teachers

About Erin Moon, C-IAYT 800, YACEP, ERYT500

Erin’s focus has been anatomy, neurobiology and biomechanics, which has led her deeper into a spiritual practice. The more she learns about the mind and body, the more she perceives just how little we know! Her awareness of the nervous system has led to her increased understanding of how much we can intuit and need to listen to learn about our own individual existence. Erin went from studying Vinyasa to Restorative, Reiki, Thai Massage, Yin and the meridians. From bones to the nervous system, her practices are becoming more subtle.

Her first introduction to yoga was at theatre school. She did her first teacher training at Sonic Yoga in New York when she returned from tour. Erin is an actor by training, and her main professional pursuits are still as an actor. A storyteller, she truly loves to nurture those around her.

Erin’s Teachers include Lisa Benner (Eldersisters Apothecary, yoga and holistic health), Jesal Parikh, rev. Angel Kyodo Williams (Radical Dharma), Jonathan Fields (Good Life Project), and Sharon Salzberg, Sally Kempton, and Emiliya Zhivotovskaya (The Flourishing Center), and Jules Mitchell (Anatomy and BIomechanics).

Read more about Erin on her website or follow her story on Instagram.

About Shiv Oss

A lover of mythology, art & the mystic journey, Shiv has bumbled his way through life as a Gestalt therapist, Kripalu body worker & shaman of sorts.

Joseph Campbell, his spiritual godfather, led him to believe that we are all heroes of our own life journeys and need to leave our village compound in order to become who we are.

As he's done for over 30 years, he will be offering a guided exploration into your own mythic journey.
